2.5 HP: Orbital Power ORB-20A

The Orbital Power ORB-20A Rotary engine, designed in 2013, has been developed from a clean sheet to run with multiple fuels including Gasoline, JP-8, JP-5 & Jet-A1 alongside the other engines in our engine suite.

Ultra light-weight, low vibration and high power density are the key properties of this engine.

Applications

  • Ideal replacement for electric motors in small UAV’s to extend mission.
  • Hybrid drive unit for 4hp electro mechanical propulsion systems
  • Portable generators up to 0.8kw
  • Aircraft APU’s up to 1kw

  • Durability: The Orb-20 engine has so far completed 100 hour of durability testing. The Orb-20 has been designed using the same core engine technology used across our engine suite, durability estimate will be 250 hours @ 75% Load Factor and 1500+ hours @ 60% Load Factor.
  • Vibration: Reciprocating = Zero, Torsional = 25% of equivalent piston engine.
  • Core Dimensions, (L X Diameter): (123mm x 98mm)/(4.84 x 3.85 inches).

15-18HP: Orbital Power ORB-92L

The ORB-92L Rotary engine, designed in 2009, has been developed from a clean sheet to run with multiple fuels including Gasoline, JP-8, JP-5 & Jet-A1, alongside the other engines in our engine suite.

Ultra light-weight, low vibration and high power density are the key properties of this engine. Our lightweight liquid cooling solution is our prime offering for this engine, an air cooled version is under development.

This engine has been successfully running in UAVs performing 12 hour missions Since 2012.
